Why Belek?

Belek is a small town located on the Mediterranean coast, about 45 minutes from Antalya and 40 minutes from Antalya Airport. It is approximately 30 km from the TerraCity shopping mall in Antalya and 35 km from the parking area of the airport’s second terminal. The nearest larger town is Serik.

Belek is best known for its luxury hotels — such as
Regnum the Crown, Kempinski hotel the Dome Belek, Rixos Premium Belek, .. — as well as its golf, tennis, and football clubs, many of which are located within these resorts. Visitors from all over the world come here to relax and enjoy sports in a beautiful Mediterranean setting.

This photo was taken
from the D400 highway, which runs from Antalya, past the airport, through Serik, and beyond. The “Golfer” sculpture is located at the turnoff to Belek, where all the golf courses are situated.

The hotels in Belek are located along the coastal strip, which is generally the greenest and most well-maintained area. The town itself sits slightly inland, on the second line from the sea.

Belek’s economy is largely driven by tourism. The town center is filled with shops, restaurants, and cafés, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere — especially during the summer season. At that time, the main streets are often closed to traffic and reserved for pedestrians and tourists. Taxis are always available in the town center.

Despite its strong focus on tourism, the town has everything needed for comfortable year-round living.

Grocery and General Stores

Belek has several well-known supermarket chains, including Migros, Carrefour, A101, BIM, and Şok. Recently, File and Tahtakale have also opened. The town has its own bakeries and butcher shops, and a local bazaar takes place every Saturday.
There are also small hardware stores where you can buy paint, tools, and plumbing supplies.
All shops are within walking distance of the apartment — about 5 to 15 minutes on foot.

Pharmacies

There are many pharmacies in Belek (Eczane). One is always on duty, and its address is posted on the doors of the others. The nearest pharmacy, located in the town center, is about 5–8 minutes’ walk from the apartment.

Hospitals and Medical Services

Belek has its own local hospital. Many residents also use the Anatolia Hospital in Serik, just 10 minutes away by car.
There are also several private medical offices in town; the nearest doctor’s office is about 10 minutes on foot from the apartment.

Postal Services

Belek has its own branch of the national postal service (PTT), about 7–10 minutes’ walk from the apartment, as well as several private delivery companies handling parcels and cargo.

Notaries and Legal Services

The nearest notary office is located in Serik, approximately 15–20 minutes away by car.

Sports and Leisure

Belek is famous for its golf courses and clubs, which are among the town’s main attractions. There are also specialized golf shops offering professional equipment and accessories.

In addition to golf, many of Belek’s hotels feature excellent tennis courts. You can purchase a membership and play on your own or with a coach. A bit further away is the
Megasaray Tennis Academy, which offers around 30 clay courts and 4 hard courts, providing top-quality facilities for both amateur and professional players.

The
Gloria Sport Arena — an international training complex — provides world-class facilities, including a football field, several swimming pools (both indoor and outdoor), basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), group fitness studios, a large gym, sauna, and massage services.
A monthly membership for one person costs about 8,000 Turkish lira (≈160 euros). The walk from the apartment to the Gloria Sports Arena reception takes approximately 15–17 minutes.

In the center of Belek, there are at least two local fitness clubs (for example,
Titan Gym). The membership prices are more affordable, and they tend to be busier. These gyms mainly offer fitness equipment and do not have a swimming pool. It takes about 10–15 minutes on foot to reach them from the apartment.

Within the town park area, there are also free basketball courts and a football field. The surface quality is, of course, not as high as at Gloria Sports Arena, but they’re great for casual games. The park is about 15–20 minutes’ walk from the apartment.

There are also
excellent football fields near Belek, many located within hotel training complexes, which host professional training camps and team gatherings — for example, at the Calista Football Center.

A large
Decalon sports store is located just beyond Antalya Airport, about a 35-minute drive (≈37 km) from Belek.

In summer, you can go rafting in the
Köprülü Canyon area — it takes around one hour by car to reach one of the many rafting bases.

In winter, when there’s snow in the mountains, you can go skiing or snowboarding. Many residents enjoy visiting
Davraz, staying in the nearby city of Isparta. The drive to Isparta takes about 2 hours, and from there it’s about 40 minutes to the slopes. You can also stay at hotels right next to the ski area.
The closest ski resort to Antalya is
Saklikent.

Fishing
The Acısu River (Acısu Çayı) flows through Belek and empties into the Mediterranean Sea. Its name literally means “Bitter Stream” or “Bitter Water.” Many local residents keep their boats on the river and enjoy fishing there.
Another river flows into the sea in the nearby town of Bogazkent, where you can also find many boats, small piers, and fishing enthusiasts.

Some people worry that being close to water might mean mosquitoes, but in Belek, the town is treated every evening during summer by a special vehicle that sprays an anti-mosquito solution. As a result, there are very few mosquitoes in the area.

The Sea and Beaches

The distance from the apartment to the sea is about 2 km in a straight line, and approximately 2.7 km by road to the public beach. Entry is free for pedestrians and cyclists, while car parking costs around 50 Turkish lira. Visitors can sit or lie on the sand or grass with their own towel or mat free of charge. The rental price for sunbeds changes from year to year.

You can also visit
nearby beaches, such as those in the Bogazkent area — about 10–15 minutes away by car from the apartment.

Alternatively, there are private beaches closer to Antalya or toward Manavgat, offering a relaxed atmosphere and high-quality service.

Some hotels also offer day passes that allow visitors to enjoy their private beach areas and facilities.

Historical and Natural Attractions

The regions of Antalya and Muğla once formed part of the ancient Lycian civilization, which flourished for nearly a millennium before our era. Lycia was known for its unique culture, including its own language, script, and distinctive architecture. Today, ruins of ancient cities and settlements can be found all along the Mediterranean coast.

Not far from Belek lies the famous
Aspendos, home to one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. The theater is still used today for theatrical performances, concerts, and ballet shows. The drive from the apartment takes about 25 minutes, though on performance days traffic is heavier and parking can be limited.

Also nearby is the open-air museum of
Side, about 45 minutes by car, and the ancient city of Termessos near Antalya, roughly 1.5 hours away.

The ruins of
Sillyon are the closest ancient site to Belek — around 20 km away or a 30-minute drive. Though less well-known than Aspendos or Side, its remote and untouched atmosphere gives visitors the feeling of being true explorers. Recently, local authorities have begun restoration and preservation efforts at the site.

Other nearby landmarks include the Roman bridge in Köprülü Canyon, the ancient aqueduct near Aspendos, and the pine forests and sand dunes along the road between Belek and Antalya. And if you broaden your travel radius even slightly, you’ll find countless more historical and natural wonders throughout the region.

Entertainment
The nearest amusement park and major shopping center are located within
The Land of Legends complex, which includes both a theme park and a luxury hotel. During the summer season, there are daily theatrical performances for children (starting around 9:00 PM) and fountain shows in the evenings. The complex also features its own amusement park, numerous restaurants, and brand-name boutiques. It becomes particularly lively in the evenings before the shows.
Driving from the apartment to the parking area takes about 12–15 minutes.

Many of Belek’s hotels also host live concerts and performances by various artists — including world-famous stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera.

Theatre and ballet groups perform in Aspendos.

Right in the center of Belek, you’ll find several tour agency offices offering a wide range of excursions and outdoor activities. These include trips to natural attractions, jeep safaris, hiking tours along the Lycian Way, hot-air balloon flights, tandem paragliding, parasailing over the sea, and many other exciting experiences.
